Mercer will take part in the Virginia Tournament this weekend
Charlottesville, VA – The Mercer Bears volleyball team is on the road to attend the Virginia Tournament in Charlottesville, VA this weekend. The Bears will play the University of Maryland and the University of Virginia on Friday with East Carolina University on Saturday.

SCOUTING THE TERRAPINS
The Terrapins have a 6-3 start this season and are 2-0 away. This game will be the first meeting between the two teams. Adam Hughes is Maryland's head coach. The Bears will have to watch out for Rainelle Jones and Sam Csire who lead the team in blocks and kills respectively.Â
SCOUTING THE CAVALIERS
The Cavaliers are 6-2 so far this season and are off to their best start through 8 matches since 2014. This will be the 1st meeting between the two teams. The big force on the team is Grace Turner, who posted back-to-back 20-kill performances this past weekend.
SCOUTING THE PIRATES
East Carolina is 4-5 on the season and is on a two-game winning streak. The first match-up between these two teams came in 2019 with the Pirates taking the match 3-1. East Carolina averages 11 kills per set with a .202 HIT%.
