
Mercer Defeats The Citadel 2-0 To Close Out Regular Season

Mercer goals came from Jada Moorman and Larkin Thomason
CHARLESTON, S.C. – Mercer's dynamic duo up top in Jada Moorman and Larkin Thomason each scored their 11th goal of the season to help the Mercer women's soccer team earn a 2-0 win at The Citadel on Sunday afternoon in Charleston, South Carolina.
After a scoreless first half, Moorman broke the deadlock in the 51st minute after great on-ball pressure from Thomason who then crossed it to Moorman in front of the goal who tapped it home for her conference best fifth game-winning goal of the season.
Moorman returned the favor as in the 58th minute, she assisted on Thomason's goal who struck a right-footed shot from the right side of the box to the top left corner to give Mercer a 2-0 lead. It was Moorman's seventh assist on the season which leads the team.
Lindsay Bell made a huge save from point blank range on a Bulldog player in the 61st minute to preserve the 2-0 lead. Bell earned her seventh shutout of the season which is tied for the most in the SoCon.
It will be a rematch in the First Round of the SoCon Tournament as the No. 7 seed Mercer Bears will play the No. 10 seed The Citadel Bulldogs. The game will be Tuesday, October 24 at 7:30 p.m. from Betts Stadium.
