Bears finish season 10-6-5

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – The Mercer women's soccer team dropped its SoCon Tournament quarterfinal match to ETSU, 1-0 on Friday evening from Johnson City, Tennessee.

The lone goal from of the game from ETSU came early, in the seventh minute on a goal from its leading goal scorer Sinoxolo Cesane.

In a tightly contested match, both goalies - Mercer's Lindsay Bell and ETSU's Ashton Blair - came up with huge saves to deny great scoring opportunities for both teams.

One of Mercer's best chances in the game came in the 64th minute when Kendall Cook crossed a ball into the box that found the foot of Emily Duncan, but her shot from inside the box was saved from Blair.

ETSU had the advantage in shots at 17-9, and shots on goal were close with ETSU holding a 5-4 advantage on the day.

+ Lindsay Bell had a great game in goal for the Bears, coming up with four saves to keep the Bears down just a goal.
+ Elizabeth Hargis was great defensively and had numerous key tackles in the game.
+ Kendall Cook led Mercer with three shots including one on goal and helped set up the chance for Duncan in the 64th minute.

NOTABLES

+ After scoring in 19 consecutive games, the Bears were held without a goal for the first time since the season opener against Evansville.
+ Mercer's 10 wins on the season were the most since 2019 when Mercer went 16-4.
