Barrow Wins Twice On Second Day Of Gridiron Classic

MACON – Macon native Samuel Barrow registered a pair of straight-sets wins, including a dominant 6-2, 6-2 win over Middle Georgia State's Neill Pillai in his early match on Saturday, to highlight action for the Mercer men's tennis team on Day 2 of the 10th Annual Mercer Gridiron Classic at the John Drew Smith Tennis Center.
Barrow finished off his unblemished day with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Flagler's Diego Amilibia later Saturday. Two of his teammates – graduate student Victor Putter and sophomore Howell Burns – split a pair of singles outings for the Bears as well. Burns surrendered just one game in his matchup with Middle Georgia State's Pedro Tence, while Putter toughed out a 6-4, 7-5 victory over Flagler's Ilian Borhee.
Final day action on Sunday at the Gridiron Classic will include a lone round of both doubles and singles play. Action is scheduled to get underway at 8:30 a.m. and admission to the event is free.
