
Men's Soccer Set to Play FIU in the First Round of NCAA Tournament

MACON, GA. - The Mercer men's soccer team will make its fifth NCAA Tournament appearance in the last seven years on Thursday evening when the Bears make the long trip to Miami, Fla., to take on Florida International in the opening round.
The Bears (7-5-8), who captured their fifth SoCon Tournament crown with a 2-0 shutout of Furman on Sunday, will go head-to-head with the host Panthers (9-4-4) in a 7 p.m. kickoff at the FIU Soccer Stadium. The winner of Thursday's matchup will travel to Charlottesville, Va., on Sunday to take on the No. 7 national seed Virginia Cavaliers.

Thursday's matchup will mark Mercer's first appearance on the sport's biggest stage since dropping a 2-1 contest at Wake Forest in the opening round of the 2021 NCAA Tournament. It will mark Florida International's 13th NCAA Tournament appearance and third-straight trip to the NCAA postseason.
