
Cross Country Announces 2023 Signing Class

MACON – Mercer men's and women's cross country head coach Josh Hayman announced the signing of a trio of student-athletes to his program on Wednesday with the additions of Claire Bauer and Regan Cooke to the women's 2024 roster, as well as the addition of Will Herlihy on the men's side.
A Williamsburg, Va. native, Claire attends Jamestown High School where she has a 4.0 grade point average among many other accolades. She recently placed fifth at the District Championship and third at the region event, and is set to run in the state championship meet on November 11, where the Jamestown team is the top seed. Claire has run a 19:15 cross country 5k and has track times of 5:29 in the 1600m and 11:51 in the 3200m. In addition to cross country and track & field, Claire is a 1st Team Team All-Region/District and 2nd Team All-State swimmer. Claire's parents are Julie and Jeff Bauer, and she has a younger brother, Michael, and an older sister, Caroline who competes at Florida.
A native of Simpsonville, S.C., Reagan attends Mauldin High School where her team was the 2023 county and region champions, and she was selected to the all-county and all-region teams while also being named Region Female Runner of the Year. In 2022, she was named all-county and all-state in cross country and all-region and all-state in track & field. Her 5k PR is 18:11, and her 3200 PR is 11:14. Her parents are Julie and Greg Cooke, and she has a younger sister, Anna.
Will attends Chapel Hill High School in his hometown of Douglasville, Ga. He was the runner-up at both the county and region championships, and placed sixth in the 3200m in the state track & field meet. He maintains a 4.0 grade point average while having the ability to run a 15:52 5k, 9:39 3200m, and 4:35 1600m.
