Men's Basketball Hosts Florida Gulf Coast

MACON – The Mercer men's basketball team (3-6) will host Florida Gulf Coast (3-8) for the third of six home games in December. The game comes a week after the team's first home win of the season over Georgia State. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.

As the team hopes to "egg the Eagles," the first 100 fans in attendance will receive free eggnog. Saturday's game will be the last weekend matchup until the new year.

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE BEARS

Mercer won their first home game of the season on Dec. 9 against Georgia State. The Bears took the lead early in the first half and carried it through the end. The team shot 49 percent from the field and out-rebounded their opponent by 14. Freshman Jake Davis made his first collegiate start and played all but three minutes of the game, scoring 26 points, including four 3-pointers, shooting 77 percent from the field.

SCOUTING REPORT

FGCU has a 3-8 overall record and is 1-4 on the road. The Eagles most recently lost at Minnesota by 20. FGCU is currently 11th out of 12 teams in the ASUN during non-conference play but was selected second overall in the ASUN Preseason Coaches' Poll. Senior forward Keeshawn Kellman leads the team in scoring with 12.5 points per game and an impressive 67.9 percent field goal shooting. He also leads the team with 6.7 rebounds per game.

LOOKING AHEAD

The Bears will be back in Hawkins Arena on Saturday, Dec. 19 to host Queens at 7 p.m.
