MACON, GA. – The Mercer Women's soccer team signs Center Midfielder, Maria Karipidis

Maria Karipidis is a Center Midfielder from Honeoye Falls-Lima High School in Henrietta, New York. Karipidis plays for the Club team NY Rush Select. On the pitch, Maria has seen a lot of success. Maria was nominated to the 2020/2021 First Team All-County and during her senior year she was named to First Team All-Greater Rochester, Fifth Team All-State, First Team All-County and she were named and the Division 4 player-of-the-year. During Maria's senior year, she was able to score 16 goals and have four assists in the eight games she saw action in. Maria is also a member of the U19 Greece national team alongside future Bear, Marianna Rapani."I am so excited to attend and play at Mercer." Said Maria. "I can't wait to become closer with my new teammates, make the best of every season, and have a great time playing the sport I love."
Coach Tony Economopoulos had the following comment about the signing of Maria Karipidis:
"We are excited to add Maria to our program this upcoming fall. Adding an athlete of Maria's caliber to our program is extremely special because you do not see a lot of high schoolers who come with time on the international level. Maria is going to be a huge asset to the team because she has all the traits we look for in our athletes. She has great size, athleticism, and technical ability. We are looking forward to her helping us reach our goals this fall.Â
