MACON, Ga. – The Mercer men's basketball program will play its final away game of the regular season on Wednesday, February 22 at 7 p.m. against Furman. Mercer is searching for its first win against Furman since 2016.

SCOUTING FURMAN
Furman currently sits in second at 13-3 in the SoCon, 22-7 overall. The Paladins hit their stride in the middle of January and proceeded to win eight-straight games until posting a shocking loss to The Citadel last Wednesday. Furman narrowly avoided a second loss in a row against ETSU on Sunday night, escaping with an 83-79 win.
The Paladins have the top scoring offense in the conference at 82.2 PPG. Furman outscores its opponents by 11.2 points on average and has recorded six SoCon wins by over 20 points. Two players rank in the top five in scoring in the conference with Mike Bothwell leading the league with 17.7 PPG and Jalen Slawson landing at fifth with 15.6 PPG. Slawson also ranks fourth in rebounding with 7.2 per game.

Mercer posted its seventh loss by three points or less this season against Western Carolina, 71-68, on Saturday in Hawkins Arena. This was the fourth-straight game in which the Bears led at halftime before falling at the final buzzer. Freshman Jah Quinones went 8-for-8 from the field for a career-high and team-leading 19 points.
Jalyn McCreary recorded his 11th-straight game scoring in double figures with 18 points. The Bears shot 50% from the field for just the second time in conference play (at Samford, December 28).
