
Bears Fall to #20 Army

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer men's lacrosse team fell to Army 16-5 on Saturday afternoon at Five Star Stadium. The Bears move to 1-3 overall. Army improves to 3-1 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Three different Bears contributed to the scoring on the afternoon. Connor Panebianco and Kyle Cox each scored twice, and Jackson Hirschy scored once. Panebianco would start the scoring off for the Bears, his first goal would come off an assist from Michael Frederick in the first quarter. The Bears would score again in the first quarter, this time from Kyle Cox off a dodge from behind the crease, making the game 2-0 for Mercer. However, the Black Knights would score four unanswered goals making the score 4-2 heading into the second.
The second quarter would begin with three more goals from Army. Kyle Cox would answer with a goal of his own for the Bears. Army would score with 13 seconds left in the half, making the score 3-8 heading into halftime.
Army would go onto a four-goal run in the third quarter making the score 12 to 3. The Bears wouldn't find the back of the net again until the fourth quarter when Parker Junod would find Panebianco on the crease. The Bears would only have to wait a minute for their final goal to find the back of the net. Jackson Hirschy would record his first collegiate goal off an assist from Taylor Dooley. Army would add a few before the final whistle making the score 16 to 5.
The Bears look to bounce back against Air Force at Five Star Stadium in Macon, Georgia on Saturday, March 4 at noon.
