
Women’s Tennis Dominates Lipscomb, 6-1

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer women's tennis program (6-4) beat Lipscomb (3-5), 6-1, on Saturday morning at the Randy Stephens Tennis Center.
The Bears took the lead with the doubles point won by Camilla Ciaccia/Eden Schlagenhauf on court two and Marina de Diego Quinones/Kristin Yordanova on court three.
All five singles points won by Mercer came in straight-set victories. Ciaccia swept the first set 6-0 and finished off her win 6-3 in the second set on court five. The next point for the Bears was won by de Diego Quinones on court four 6-1, 6-2, while only dropping three games the entire match.
Schlagenhauf won the clinching point for Mercer with a 6-3, 6-2 win on court three. Mary Weston Courville posted a 6-3, 6-3 win on court two. In her first singles victory of the year, Lekha Varudandi won the first set 7-5 and swept the second set 6-0, to claim the final point for the Bears on court six.
Teodora Ristic played an incredibly close match with Sasha Dobranos on court one. Dobranos took the first set 6-4, but Ristic responded with a 6-2 win in the second set to force a 10-point tiebreak which Dobranos won 10-8.
UP NEXT: Mercer will travel to face Jacksonville State on Wednesday, March 1 at 10 a.m.
