MACON, Ga. – The Mercer women's tennis program will play three matches this weekend, beginning with an away match at Georgia State on Saturday at 2 p.m. The Bears will return home for a double header against Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College on Sunday at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Randy Stephens Tennis Center.

RECENT ACTION
Mercer earned its first win of the season with a 6-1 victory over Alabama A&M on Saturday. The three doubles pairs only allowed two games to the Bulldogs combined. Marina de Diego Quinones improved to 2-1 in singles this season with a quick 6-1, 6-1 win on court five. Mary Weston Courville, Eden Schlagenhauf, and Kristin Yordanova also won in straight sets.

SCOUTING GEORGIA STATE
The Panthers are still looking for a win this season after dropping matches to Georgia Tech (7-0), Lipscomb (5-2), and Middle Tennessee (4-0). Georgia State finished 17-6 overall and 9-1 in the Sun Belt last season, closing out the regular season on a seven-match win streak.

Two players who returned for their fifth year this season earned All-Sun Belt honors for the 2022 season. Eva Chivu was named to the All-Conference Singles First Team and Andreea Stanescu was named to the All-Conference Singles Second Team. Chivu leads the Panthers playing on court one for singles and doubles while Stanescu has yet to make an appearance. Georgia State has been battling injury issues at the start of this season.

SCOUTING ABAC
ABAC open the spring season against Warner University on Saturday before traveling to Macon. The Stallions posted a successful fall campaign. Duo Jou Chen Chen and Nicole Dufour won the doubles title at the ITA JUCO Southeast Regional Championships. Dufour also won the singles title after beating teammate Chen in the singles final. A third player represented ABAC in the semifinals as Yazmin Barrios fell to champion Dufour in the final four.

The Stallions have four singles players and two doubles pairs ranked in the JUCO national rankings. Dufour lands at No. 4 followed by Chen at No. 16. Barrios is ranked 23rd while Patricia Principal is 50th. Dufour and Chen are the second-ranked doubles pair, and Barrios and Principal are 15th.
