Mercer improves to 2-2
MACON, Ga. – The Mercer women's tennis program (2-2) beat Georgia State (0-4), 5-2, to grab its second win of the season. Mary Weston Courville and Camilla Ciaccia each earned doubles and singles wins against the Panthers.
Georgia State was battling injury issues only having five players available for selection resulting in no contests on court three for doubles and court six for singles. The Bears won the doubles point after Courville/Teodora Ristic won 7-5 on court one and Eden Schlagenhauf/Ciaccia won 6-2 on court two.
Ciaccia was first to finish in singles on court four with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Pragnya Kumar to extend Mercer's lead to 3-0 overall.
Marina de Diego Quinones earned the clinching point for the Bears on court five with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Ellie Aldrich. This was the freshman's third singles win of the season.
On court two, Courville played stellar first and third sets to win 6-2, 5-7, 6-1 for her second singles win of the season.
UP NEXT: The Bears host a doubleheader against ABAC on Sunday, February 5 at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Randy Stephens Tennis Center.
