Mercer improves to 4-2 with two 7-0 victories
MACON, Ga. – The Mercer women's tennis program (4-2) swept ABAC (0-2), 7-0, twice on Sunday. The Bears improve to 4-2 this season after three wins this weekend.
The Stallions faced injury woes forcing no contests on court three for doubles and court six for singles.
Teodora Ristic won all four contests on court one, teaming up with Mary Weston Courville for doubles to defeat Jou Chen Chen/Victoria Conde 6-1 in the first match and Chen/Lilia Jerry 6-1 in the second match. Ristic won in three sets against Chen in singles followed by a 6-0, 6-2 singles win over Yazmin Barrios.
Courville dominated on court two with a swift 6-0, 6-0 win over Barrios in the morning and a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Chen in the afternoon. The senior finished 6-0 on the weekend in doubles and singles.
Eden Schlagenhauf and Camilla Ciaccia claimed two doubles wins on court two, beating Barrios/Patricia Principal 6-2 in the morning match and Barrios/Victoria Conde 6-2 in the afternoon. Schlagenhauf won the second set tiebreak to earn a singles win over Jerry 6-1, 7-6 (7-5) on court three. She followed this up with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Conde on court three later in the day.
Freshman Marina de Diego Quinones improved to 5-1 in singles this season with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Principal on court five and a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Jerry in her first appearance on court four.
Ciaccia added a singles win over Conde on court four 6-2, 6-4, and Kristin Yordanova recorded a 6-2, 6-1 win against Principal on court five.
UP NEXT: Mercer is at home again next weekend to face Alabama State on Sunday, February 12 at 11 a.m.
