Bears play FGCU again on Saturday at 9 a.m.
FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Mercer women's tennis program (4-3) fell 6-1 to FGCU (6-2) on Friday afternoon at the FGCU Tennis Complex. Three singles matches went to 10-point tiebreaks after splitting the first two sets.
Kristin Yordanova claimed the only point of the day for the Bears with a 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-6) victory on court six. Camilla Ciaccia won the first set on court four, 6-3, and held the second set on serve until the final game. Jordana Ossa defeated Ciaccia in a third set tiebreak. Teodora Ristic dropped the first set 6-4 before winning the second set 6-2 to force a tiebreak.
The doubles matches were incredibly close as both Ciaccia/Eden Schlagenhauf and Marina de Diego Quinones/Yordanova fell 7-5 on courts two and three, respectively.
UP NEXT: Mercer will play its second match against FGCU on Saturday morning at 9 a.m.
