Bears Fall at March to May Tournament

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer Bears Beach Volleyball team went 0-5 at the March to May Tournament this past Saturday and Sunday in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
SATURDAY, MARCH 18
No. 5 LMU | 11:00 AM
The Mercer Bears fell to LMU 0-5 in their first matches of the tournament.
Mercer's Lexi Polychrones and Jordan Paddock would drop two sets to LMU's Paul and Prihti. The score of the first was 22-20, and the score for the second was 21-16. Nicole O'Mara and Kate Hardie would drop both sets to LMU's Thorup and Stevens. The score of the first set was 21-10 and the score of the second set was 21-16. Sydney Benson and Jordyn Thomas-Warren would be defeated b LMU's Hooker and Reffel in two sets. The score of the first set was 22-20 and the score of the second set was 23-21. LMU's Ramirez and Garder would defeat Reese Hood and Hollis Engel in two sets. The first set score was 21-10 and the score of the second set was 21-9. On court five, Mercer's own Kathryn Corbett and Alyssa Scoggins would be defeated by LMU's Tucker and Firnett. The score of the first set was 21-17 and the score of the second was 21-12.

The Mercer Bears fell to North Florida, 0-5 in The Bear's second match of the March to May tournament.
Polychrones and Paddock would lose in two sets to LSU's DeBerg and Shank. The score of the first set was 21-12, the score of the second set was 21-16. O'Mara and Hardie would drop two sets to LSU's Seits and Bracken. The first set score was 21-12 and the score of the second was 21-14. Benson and Thomas-Warren would drop both sets to LSU's Brister and Allred. The score of the first set was 21-17 and the score of the second was 21-16. Hood and Engel would drop their match in two sets to LSU's Larkin and Boos. The score of the first set was 21-13, and the score for the second set was 21-11. Corbett and Skylar Kelly would drop both sets to LSU's Linder and Chambers. The score of the first set was 21-13 and the score of the second set was 21-11.

No. 20 SOUTH CAROLINA | 9:00 AM
The Mercer Bears fell to South Carolina, 0-5 in the Bear's third match of the tournament.
Paddock and Polychrones would drop two sets to USC's Allen and Priebe. The score of the first set was 21-5 and the score of the second was 21-18. O'Mara and Hardie would force three sets against USC's Crews and Mackenhausen. The score of the first set was 21-18 and the score of the second was 19-21 in favor of the bears, and the score of the final set was 15-9. Benson and Thomas-Warren would drop two sets to USC's Coens and Wilcock. The score of the first set was 21-17 and the score of the second was 21-10. Engel and Kelly would lose their match against USC's Cranford and Westendorff. The score of the first set was 21-10 and the score for the second was 21-16. Corbett and Hood would drop two sets to USC's Nelson and Ansel. The score of the first was 21-16. The Bears would battle for the win in set two but would come up just shy, losing the second set 34-32.

The Mercer Bears fell to Tulane, 3-2 in their second match of the day in the March to May tournament.
Polychrones and Paddock would lose their match in two sets to Tulane's Ebertin and Peters. The score of both sets would be 21-14. O'Mara and Hardie would lose two close sets to Tulane's Hall and Speicher. The score of the first set was 21-18 and the score of the second was 21-19. Benson and Thomas-Warren would find the first match victory for the bears. They would defeat Tulane's Heintzelman and Mehlman in two sets, winning the first 21-14 and winning the second 21-12. Engel and Kelly would drop two sets to Tulane's Jackson and Mares. The score of the first set was 21-10 and the score of the second set was 21-13. Scoggins and Corbett would secure the second match win for the bears this weekend. They would defeat Tulane's O'Connor and Trodd in three sets. The Bears would lose the first 18-21. The Bears would battle back and win the second set in a close 21-19 game. The Bears would win the final set 15-13.
UAB | 2:00 PM
The Mercer Bears fell to UAB, 1-4 in the Bear's final match of the tournament.
Polychrones and Paddock would for a three-set match against UAB's Pertuit and Haas. The score of the first set was 21-17 in favor of UAB, the score of the second was 18-21. They would battle in the final set but would come up short losing the final set by a score of 15-11. O'Mara and Hardie would find their first match victory of the weekend against UAB's Copping and Law-Heese in three sets. The score of the first was 13-21 in favor of UAB, the score of the second was 21-18 in favor of the Bears. The Bears would take the final set, winning 15-13. Benson and Thomas-Warren would lose in two sets to UAB's Andraka and Ennis. The score of the first set was 21-17 and the score for the second was 21-16. Engel and Kelly would be defeated by UAB's Pereira and Alexander in two sets. The Score for the first set was 21-17 and the score for the second set was 21-16. Corbett and Scoggins would drop two sets to UAB's Stant and Chychrun. The score of the first set was 21-10 and the score for the second set was 21-17.
