
Bears Conclude Non-Conference Schedule at FAMU

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Mercer's women's tennis program will travel to Tallahassee, Florida to face Florida A&M on Wednesday, March 29 at 2 p.m. in the final non-conference match of the year for the Bears.

RECENT ACTIONÂ
Mercer has not played in over a week, but most recently defeated Chattanooga 5-2 and Western Carolina 4-3 in the team's first conference matches of the season.Â
Mary Weston Courville and Teodora Ristic competed at the second doubles slot against Chattanooga, defeating their opponents 6-1 while Marina de Diego Quinones and Kristin Yordanova won on court three against the Mocs to claim the doubles point. Ristic, Courville, and Eden Schlagenhauf beat both SoCon opponents in singles while Camilla Ciaccia and Yordanova each split the matches with the Mocs and Catamounts.
SCOUTING FAMU
Florida A&M is 7-0 in conference play, posting a better record than in recent seasons. Mercer beat FAMU in the 2020 and 2021 seasons, both by a score of 6-1.
The Rattlers were scheduled to face Prairie View A&M and Xavier University of Louisiana on Sunday, March 26; however, matches were both postponed. The most recent action for Florida A&M was a match against Southern University on Saturday, March 25 when the team won 4-0.Â
Sara Rakim and Sierra Sandy have been playing at the first doubles slot, standing at a 6-2 record together this season. The pair defeated their opponents in the match against Southern, 6-3, and have not lost since the team's match with Georgia Southern at the beginning of the month.Â
Rebekkah Gaines and Veronica Rodriquez have each competed at the first singles slot, but neither have been successful. Gaines has gone 2-6, defeating Mississippi Valley State and Grambling State while Rodriguez has not taken a win at the slot all season.
