
Mercer Returns Home to Face Samford

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer women's tennis program will return home to resume Southern Conference play against Samford on Friday, March 31 at 3 p.m.

RECENT ACTIONÂ
The Bears claimed a 5-2 win over FAMU on Wednesday. All three doubles teams took victories getting Mercer off to a great start. Teodora Ristic and Mary Weston Courville defeated Sierra Sandy and Sara Rakmin 6-2 at the first doubles slot, and Camilla Ciaccia and Eden Schlagenhauf defeated Genesis Whitelock and Reagan Harris 6-3 on court two. Marina de Diego Quinones and Kristin Yordanova defeated Veronica Rodriguez and Rebekkah Gaines on court three in a hard-fought 7-6 match. Ristic, Courville, Quinones and Ciaccia also defeated their opponents in singles and the Bears successfully secured another win.Â
SCOUTING SAMFORD
The Bulldogs are 1-1 in conference play after beating Chattanooga 5-2 and being swept 7-0 by ETSU. In the last matchup between Mercer and Samford, the Bears fell 6-1 and have not beat the Bulldogs since the 2017 season.Â
Samantha Nanere and Lindsay Song competed together at the first doubles slot and lost to both UTC and ETSU, putting the two at a 7-6 overall record this season. Alex Lopez and Lauren Waddles have been playing together at the second doubles slot and are 4-2 together this season after losing to ETSU and defeating UTC. Cameron Rogin and Ally Hayduk teamed up for the first time this season at the third doubles slot against UTC and lost 6-4. Rogin then played with Olivia Jablonski, a more consistent pair, and lost to ETSU which put the two at a 4-2 record together this season.Â
Lopez holds the team's best singles record and has maintained the first slot, going 9-5 in regular play and 1-1 in the SoCon. Song is 8-6 this season at the fourth singles slot while Rogin is 7-4 and has been drifting between the fifth and sixth slot.Â
