MACON, Ga. – Two Mercer women's tennis players were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, it was announced on Tuesday. Mary Weston Courville and Kristin Yordanova earned the honor for their success on the court, in the classroom, and out in the community.
To be eligible for the honor, student-athletes must hold at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or important reserve on the team.
Courville was named to the All-Southern Conference Singles First Team and Doubles First Team during her senior season. She also was selected as the SoCon Player of the Week on April 11. The Columbus, Georgia, native led the team with a 15-8 singles record, featuring a perfect 7-0 mark in conference play. She and doubles partner Teodora Ristic earned two wins over ranked pairs, contributing to their 16 total wins this season.
Graduating magna cum laude this spring, Courville holds a 3.787 GPA as a public health major. She was also deeply involved in the community during her time at Mercer, serving on the Student Athlete Advisory Committee, volunteering at tennis clinics with Macon-Bibb County Parks and Recreation, helping with the Mercer Tennis Classic professional tournament, and cleaning up a school in Capetown, South Africa, with LeadAbroad.
