Davis and Teegarden Win Bronze At SoCon Championships

Davis won bronze in 400m Dash and Teegarden earned bronze in 3,000m Steeplechase

CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Tara Davis and Brianna Teegarden each earned bronze in their respective events at the track and field SoCon Championships at the campus of Western Carolina.

As a team the Bears finished tied for 8th with 31 points out of the 10 women's teams that competed.

On Monday, Teegarden finished in third place in the 3,000m Steeplechase with a time of 11:05.45. It was a personal record for Teegarden and the second fastest time in the event in school history.

In the 200m Dash qualifiers, Bianca Browne ran a time of 24.81. It was a personal record for Browne and tied for the ninth fastest time in the event in school history.

On Tuesday, Tara Davis won bronze in the 400m Dash with a time of 55.97. Davis was named All-Conference in the 400m Dash, her third All-Conference recognition of her career. Davis now owns the second, fifth, seventh, eighth, and ninth fastest times in the 400m Dash in school history.

Mercer's relay teams had strong showings as the 4x100m Relay team which consists of Chidimma Uwaomah, Bianca Browne, Samayia O'dneal, and Jiya Hastings together ran a time of 47.22 to finish in fourth place in the event. It was their best time of the season.

The 4x400m Relay team of Ceylani Rembert, O'dneal, Browne, and Davis finished in fourth place with a time of 3:54.37 which ranks just outside of the top-10 fastest times in the event in school history.

Bianca Browne finished in fifth in the 200m Dash with a time of 24.89. She also finished in sixth in the 100m Dash with a time of 12.15.

Annette Rodriguez earned a point in the team standings for the Bears and was named All-Conference with an 8th place finish in the 10,000m Run with a time of 39:17.47.
