Sydney Farr scored with two seconds to play in first half
ATLANTA, Ga. – With time winding down in the first half and Mercer trailing 1-0, Sydney Farr scored with two seconds remaining in the first half as Mercer and Georgia State ended in a 1-1 draw Thursday night from Atlanta, Georgia.
Farr's goal was the first goal allowed by Georgia State through three games this season. Georgia State (2-0-1) outshot Mercer (1-0-2) 14-9 including a 5-3 advantage in shots on goal. However, the Bears had a much better second half and outshot Georgia State 7-2 in the second half. Kendall Cook led Mercer with three shots in the game.Â
In the second half, the Bears had chances to take the lead with Sydney Farr sending a low cross across the 6-yard box that just missed an outstretched Jada Moorman. In the 78th minute, Emily Duncan tested the Georgia State goalie with a shot from distance that forced the keeper to punch the ball over the crossbar. Neither team could find a game-winning goal in the final minutes of the game.
Mercer returns home to play Alabama State on Sunday, August 27 at 2 p.m. from Betts Stadium.
