Bears remain undefeated at 5-0-4

BOILING SPRINGS, NC - The Mercer women's soccer team won in resounding fashion Thursday night at Gardner-Webb by a final of 4-0.

Forwards Jada Moorman and Larkin Thomason each had two goals on the night bringing their season totals to a conference best seven goals.

Freshman Anna Bachman had two assists on the night and Chandler-Lewis Jenkins, Elizabeth Hargis, and Lena Dykes all had an assist.

Moorman put the Bears ahead 1-0 in the seventh minute as she received a pass over the top from Lewis-Jenkins and placed her shot in the bottom left corner of the goal. Larkin Thomason made it 2-0 in the 35th minute on a heder from Bachman.

After taking a 2-0 lead into halftime, Moorman scored her second of the night on a header also assisted by Bachman in the 56th minute. Thomason would score Mercer's fourth goal in the 81st minute on a beautifully weighted pass from Dykes.

Mercer outshot Gardner-Webb 21-8, including 11-3 in shots on goal.

Next up for Mercer is a big home match against No. 7. Alabama on Sunday, September 17 at 2 p.m. from Betts Stadium.

+ Hargis and Dykes helped anchor the middle of Mercer's back line and each picked up an assist on the night.
