Volleyball Hosts Wofford In SoCon Opener

MACON – The first Southern Conference match of the 2023 season for the Bears will be Friday, September 22 at 6 p.m. in Hawkins Arena against Wofford.

The Bears traveled to Statesboro on September 16 to play Bethune-Cookman at Georgia Southern's Hanner Fieldhouse. The match was filled with lead changes and ties, but Mercer prevailed in each set, winning the match in a three-set sweep.

The Terriers are 9-2 overall this season and on a five-game win streak. Last season, Wofford and Mercer met twice with Mercer taking the win in both games. This will be the 28th matchup between the teams, and Mercer leads the series 15-12. Mercer won the most recent match in November 2022 3-2. Last season, the Bears finished 6-10 in the conference and lost the SoCon opener at UNCG. The first home match of conference play was a win over Chattanooga in three sets.

The Bears will be back on the court in Hawkins arena less than 24 hours later when they host UNCG at 6 p.m.
