Men’s Golf Announces 2023-2024 Schedule

MACON, Ga. - Mercer head men's golf coach Jason Payne and the men's golf team has announced their 2023-2024 season schedule.
"We are excited about our 2023-2024 schedule," said coach Payne. "This schedule is going to be super competitive and allow us to compete on the national level. We are also excited to have multiple events in Georgia before the SoCon Championship at the end of April."
Fall Schedule:
The Bears began their 2023 fall season with the Mirabel Maui Jim Intercollegiate hosted by Georgia State in Scottsdale, Ariz. The Bears finished 15th and Tobias Jonsson finished in 21st place on the 75-man leaderboard at 7-under-par.
The Bears will head to the Erie, Colo., for the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational from October 2-3. TThe Bears will then head north to Spartanburg, S.C., for the Carolina Cup hosted by USC Upstate from October 8-10. From October 29-31, Mercer will play in the Daniel Island Intercollegiate hosted by Charleston Southern in Charleston, South Carolina.
Spring Schedule:
After a 3-1/2 month break, Mercer will begin its 2024 Spring Schedule with the Palmas Del Mar Collegiate hosted by UNCG in Humacao, Puerto Rico from February 11-13.
Following the Palmas Del Mar Collegiate, the Bears will travel to Hilton Head, S.C., for the Wexford Intercollegiate hosted by Francis Marion. This event will take place on February 19th through the 20th.
Mercer will travel to Aiken, S.C., for the USC Aiken-hosted Palmetto Intercollegiate, March 4-5, and will host the Linger Longer Invitational from March 17-19 at the Great Waters Golf Club in Eatonton, Gs.
The final event the Bears will play in before the Southern Conference Championship is the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational hosted by Augusta from April 6-7.
The Southern Conference Championship will take play at Reynolds Lake Oconee from April 21st through the 22nd.
Coach Payne and the Bears return seven golfers from last year's team in graduate students Jay Spivey and Jonathan Parker, as well as seniors Tobias Jonsson, August Jording and Gustav Sjoberg. Also back for coach Payne is junior Trey Mixon and sophomore Connor Holcroft.
Newcomers for the Bears include Florida A&M transfer Jacob Uyesato, and two freshmen in Charlie Fischer and Rohan Singh.
