
Volleyball Treks To Western Carolina, The Citadel

MACON – Mercer volleyball plays two road games this week after hosting their first two conference matchups of the season. Mercer will play Western Carolina in Cullowhee, N.C. on Saturday at 6 p.m. and The Citadel in Charleston, S.C. on Sunday at 4 p.m.
On September 23, the Bears snagged their first home and Southern Conference win of the season against UNCG, winning in three sets. The Bears' conference record is 1-1 going into the weekend.Â
Western Carolina carries a 1-2 conference record, is 4-10 overall and 2-1 at home. The Catamounts' first two conference matchups went to five sets, defeating ETSU and falling to Furman. The team lost to The Citadel in three sets on Wednesday. In the most recent matchup between the Bears and Catamounts, the Cats won in three sets. They also lead the series (since 1990) 22-13.
The Citadel is undefeated this season at 15-0, including conference wins over Chattanooga, Samford, and Western Carolina. The Bears lead the series (since 2010) against the Bulldogs 18-4, but the Dogs won the most recent matchup 3-1.Â
