LAST TIME OUT FOR THE BEARS
Mercer defeated Talladega 74-50 in another high-percentage shooting night led by Jalyn McCreary who scored 24 points. Bench points (43) accounted for more than half of Mercer's total, and points off turnovers (19) were both too much for the Tornadoes to handle, as Mercer kept the lead the entire game. The Bears snapped a nine-game winning streak for Talladega. Mercer has now won five-straight games – its longest winning streak since stringing together five-straight wins from Nov. 27-Dec. 11, 2021.
SCOUTING REPORT
ETSU has an 8-5 overall record and is undefeated at home this season. Most recently, the Bucs defeated East Carolina by 16 in Greenville. Two ETSU players scored over 20 points and two more reached double digits. ETSU finished sixth in the Southern Conference preseason media poll and seventh in the coaches poll, which flip-flops with Mercer's preseason rankings. No Bucs players were preseason All-Conference selections, but three average double-digit scoring, and two average at least seven rebounds per game.
LOOKING AHEAD
The Bears will travel to Lexington, Va. to play VMI Saturday, Jan. 6 at 1 p.m.
