Men's Basketball on the Road to Wofford

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Mercer men's basketball team (8-7, 1-1) faces a Wofford team on their home court tomorrow with the same overall and conference records. Tip-off will be at 7 p.m. and streamed on ESPN+.

The Bears lost two heartbreakers to the Terriers last season, the first by one point on a last-second shot and the second by three points. Mercer's next home game will be this weekend against Southern Conference preseason favorite Western Carolina.

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE BEARS

Mercer has captured six of its last seven outings, including picking up their first SoCon win of the season on Saturday via an 86-64 road rout of VMI. Graduate student Robby Carmody and freshman David Thomas both put up 20 points, including three 3-pointers for Carmody and four for Thomas.

SCOUTING REPORT

Wofford has won six-straight home games dating back to last season, including a perfect 5-0 mark in Spartanburg in 2023-24. Wofford has captured 30 of their last 38 home games dating back to the 2020-21 season. Wofford was selected eighth in both the media and coaches preseason polls and did not have any players selected to the Preseason All-Conference Team. The Terriers have three players averaging in double digits with one nearly averaging a double-double. Center Kyler Filewich is tallying 10.8 points and 9.9 rebounds per game.

LOOKING AHEAD

The Bears return home on Saturday, Jan. 13 to host Western Carolina at 2 p.m. in Hawkins Arena.
