SERIES HISTORY
Sunday's game will mark the 24th all-time meeting between Mercer and Samford. Samford leads the series 16-2-5. Last year, the two teams met in Macon where Samford came back from a 1-0 deficit to get a 2-1 win over the Bears. Each of Samford's last four wins over Mercer have been by one goal.
LAST TIME OUT
Three different players scored for Mercer as the Bears took a 3-0 lead before UNCG mounted a comeback as the game ended in a 3-3 draw last Sunday in Greensboro, North Carolina.
SCOUTING SAMFORD
After losing its SoCon opener at Western Carolina, Samford has won four of its last five conference games with a draw against Furman being the only game the Bulldogs dropped points since the loss to the Catamounts. Samford was picked to finish second in the Preseason SoCon Coaches Poll.
Samford is 4-3-2 at home this season. Through 15 games the Bulldogs have scored 25 goals and allowed 26. In their six conference games the Bulldogs have scored 12 goals and allowed just five.
Samford has three players who are tied for the team lead in goals with four on the season. Sophomore forward Sam De Luca and senior forward Layton Glisson each have 10 points on the season with four goals and two assists.
Sophomore goalie Peyton Hull owns a .702 save percentage and has a 1.66 goals against average.
