SPARTANBURG, S.C. – A phenomenal start to her senior campaign, one which included double-double outings in each of Mercer's first two games of the 2024-25 season, proved to be even more fruitful on Tuesday afternoon when Ashlee Locke was named Southern Conference Player of the Week.

A native of Flowery Branch, Locke averaged 18.5 points, 13.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.0 blocks an outing as the Bears opened up their first campaign under the direction of head coach Michelle Clark-Heard. Locke shot better than 56 percent (13-for-23) from the field in contests with UNC Asheville and Florida Atlantic, while also canning 91.7 percent (11-for-12) of her free throw attempts as well.

Locke opened up her torrid week on the hardwood with a 14-point, 10-rebound outing in MU's season-opening victory over UNC Asheville at home on Monday, while also adding four assists and a block as well. She lit up Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena on Saturday, however, registering 23 points and 16 rebounds in 35 minutes of action. Locke shot 53.8 percent (7-of-13) from the field against FAU, while also draining nine of her 10 attempts from the charity stripe.

The Bears (1-1) will open up a two-game home stand on Tuesday when they suit up to battle Western Kentucky (2-0) in a 7 p.m. contest at Hawkins Arena. Mercer will welcome North Carolina A&T (0-2) to Macon for a 2 p.m. contest on Sunday as well.
