
Mercer Falls 73-60 To Wofford At Home

MACON -Â The Mercer men's basketball team (11-15, 4-9 SoCon) got a 21-point performance from the bench, but fell 73-60 to the Wofford Terriers (15-11, 8-5) at home on Wednesday.
The Bears had three players score in double figures, led by Jake Davis who had 15 points. David Thomas tacked on 12 points and two steals off the bench, and Alex Holt helped out with 12 points.
Mercer out-rebounded Wofford, 32-31, in Wednesday's game, paced by Davis' five boards. The Bears also grabbed 11 offensive rebounds and scored six second chance points.
How It Happened
After playing to a 7-7 tie, Mercer went on an 8-0 run with 14:44 left in the first half, culminating in a three from Thomas, to take a 15-7 lead. The Bears then lost some of that lead, but still entered halftime with a 31-26 advantage. Mercer relied on its three-point shooting in the period, knocking down five shots to account for 15 of its 31 points.
Wofford then erased the Mercer lead in the game's final quarter for a 73-60 comeback victory. Mercer got a boost from its bench in the period, as non-starters accounted for nine of its 29Â total points.
