
Bears Host Bulldogs In The Hawk On Saturday

MACON – Mercer men's basketball (11-15, 4-9) will play its second of four-straight home games on Saturday against Samford (23-3,12-1). The two teams will tip off at 2 p.m., and the game will be streamed on ESPN+.Â
In this season's first matchup between the two squads, the Bears put together a strong second half, cutting the lead to one point before facing a near five-minute scoring drought that thwarted the comeback. Jalyn McCreary surpassed 1,000 career points in the game thanks to a court-length pass from Robby Carmody that set McCreary up for a wide-open dunk.

| Samford has remained dominant at the top of the Southern Conference, losing only to Furman by 10 points in Greenville on January 24. Junior forward Achor Achor leads the conference in field goal percentage, shooting 58.8 percent. Guard Rylan Jones has the handles, leading the SoCon in assist-to-turnover ratio (4.1) and is third in assists per game (5.3). Samford is ranked among the top 5 in multiple statistical categories for NCAA DI, including first in 3-point percentage (40.7); fourth in scoring offense (88.0 ppg), winning percentage (88.5), and effective field goal percentage (.580); and fifth in turnovers forced per game (17.46), bench points per game (35.38), and assists per game (18.6). |
