GREENSBORO, NC - A tough offensive night for the Bears, and a fast start for UNCG was part of the storyline in Mercer's 69-49 setback on the road at UNCG on Saturday from Fleming Gym.

How It Happened
After falling behind 19-6, Mercer went on a 7-0 run with 2:30 left in the first quarter, culminating in a bucket from Briana Peguero, to narrow its deficit to 19-13, a score that would hold for the rest of the period.

Mercer's offense picked up a bit in the third quarter, but the Bears struggled defensively to contain UNCG as the Spartans went 10-for-14 (71.4%) from the field in the quarter.
In the fourth quarter, the Bears were able to get to the line quite a bit as they scored seven of their 17 points in the quarter from the free-throw line. Freshman Ariana Dyson made the most of her minutes as she scored five points in five minutes of playing time in the fourth quarter.
