Beach Volleyball Drops Pair At Stetson Spring Fling

RESULTS (STETSON | FGCU)

MACON – Beach Volleyball dropped their first two duals of the season against a pair of strong opponents on the opening day of the Stetson Spring Fling.

In their opening dual, the Bears were swept by 16th-ranked Stetson, despite a valiant effort from the No. 3 pairing of Lexi Polychrones and Reese Hood. The duo dropped their first set 19-21, before rallying to take the second 22-20, but ultimately fell in a closely fought deciding set, 16-18.

The Bears then dropped a 5-0 decision to Florida Gulf Coast to wrap up their opening day of play. Jordan Morris and Kathryn Corbett picked up a win in the first set of the No. 4 pairing, 21-17, but couldn't hold off a comeback attempt, dropping the second set 18-21 and the third 11-15.

Mercer returns to the sand tomorrow when they matchup against Eckerd College at 8:00 a.m., before their tournament finale against Southern Miss at 2:00 p.m.
