
Mercer Makes Short Trip To Play Kennesaw State Wednesday

MACON, Ga. - The Mercer women's lacrosse team travels to Kennesaw, Georgia to play the Kennesaw State Owls on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY
Wednesday will mark the 10th all-time meeting between Mercer and Kennesaw State. Mercer leads the series 8-1. The two teams met last season in Macon, with Mercer winning 20-9.
LAST TIME OUT
The Mercer women's lacrosse team went on the road for the first time this season and picked up its first win of the season by the score of 17-10Â over Davidson last Saturday from Davidson, North Carolina.
With the score tied at four after the first quarter, Mercer went on to outscore the Wildcats 13-6 the remainder of the game. Davidson's 10 goals were tied for the fewest its scored over its first five games this season.Â
Maddi Koury and Gabby DiVirgilio led Mercer offensively as Koury had a game high four goals and DiVirgilio had a game high five points with three goals and two assists.
Freshman midfielder Ansley Walters had a great all-around game as she had a three point game with one goal and two assists. She also had four draw controls and three caused turnovers.
In goal, Kate Vanderlinde made 12 saves and had a 54.5 save percentage. Vanderlinde picked up her 200th career save in the game as well.
SCOUTING KENNESAW STATE
Kennesaw State comes into the game with a 4-1 record. The Owls have won won their last two with their lone loss on the season coming to Big South member Furman who defeated them 15-11.
Last season, Kennesaw State went 4-13 and 3-4 in the Atlantic Sun Conference. They lost to Queens in the first round of the ASUN Tournament.

This season, the Owls, brought back a pair of All-ASUN selections as well as the 2023 ASUN Freshman of the Year in Shannon Harrington.

Three of Kennesaw State's four wins this season have come against Big South teams in Presbyterian, Gardner-Webb and Longwood.
So far this season, Kennesaw State has statistically been the best offense in the country. They lead all of Division I with 20.0 goals per game and average 36.6 shots per game. Five different players have already reached 10 or more goals this season.
Preseason First Team All-Conference selection Hannah Barth leads the team with 26 points. She has 16 goals and a team high 10 assists.
In goal, senior Julia Weiss has a 10.71 goals against average and a 42.0 save percentage.
