
Mercer In Gainesville To Play No. 13 Florida Saturday

MACON, Ga. -Â The Mercer women's lacrosse team continues its road trip on Saturday as the Bears visit Gainesville, Florida to play defending AAC champion No. 13 Florida. The game is scheduled to start at noon eastern.

SERIES HISTORY
Saturday will be just the fifth all-time meeting between Mercer and Florida. Florida has won all four of the previous games, including a 15-6 win in Macon last season.
LAST TIME OUT
Despite a slow offensive start, Mercer got within three goals of Vanderbilt but couldn't complete the comeback in a 13-9 loss in Nashville, Tennessee on Wednesday.
Vanderbilt held Mercer scoreless in the first quarter but Mercer's defense was also up to the task holding Vanderbilt to just two goals in a low scoring first quarter. The Bears got within three goals in the second half, but Vanderbilt held Mercer off to earn the win.
SCOUTING FLORIDA
Florida enters the game with a 6-2 record and 2-0 record in AAC play. The Gators are coming off the 16-13 win at home over No. 21 Princeton on Wednesday.
Florida has two ranked wins on the season. In addition to defeating No. 21 Princeton on Wednesday, the Gators also defeated then No. 5 Maryland 13-12 in overtime in College Park, Maryland.
Both of Florida's losses this season have come on the road to top 10 teams. Florida lost 18-10 to No. 8 Loyola to open the season and 19-10 to No. 6 North Carolina.
The Gators have traditionally been one of the best women's lacrosse teams in Division I lacrosse and have won nine consecutive American Athletic Conference championships. Like Mercer, Florida lost in the NCAA Tournament last season to Notre Dame.
This season, Florida has shown it has a lethal offensive attack as the Gators rank seventh in the country in goals per game at 17.0. They have been efficient with their shots as they score a goal on 52.3 percent of their shots, fifth best in the country.
Florida also has been one of the best teams in the draw circle this year as they are winning 61.4 percent of draws, good for 14th best in Division I. The Gators average the second most draw controls per game in the country at 18.1 per game.Â
Florida is led offensively by senior attacker Maggi Hall who has a team best 40 points on the season. She has more than twice as many assists as the next closest player on the team with 25 assists on the season. The Gators have depth scoring as five players have at least 15 goals through the team's first eight games.
Draw control specialist Liz Harrison leads the country in draw controls per game at 11.1 per game.
In goal for Florida is senior Georgia Hoey who has an. 8.44 goals against average and a .532 save percentage.
