Mercer Drops Match, 5-2 At Wofford

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Mercer women's tennis team dropped its conference match at Wofford, 5-2 on Friday evening from Spartanburg, South Carolina.
In the doubles matches Wofford's Breda Brennan and Brianna Wilbur started things by winning 6-3 over Mercer's Tea Zivic and Mariella Minetti. On court one, Wofford's Grace Agster and Lily Woods defeated Mercer's Lea Falentin and Emilia Cosatto, 6-4 to clinch the doubles point for the Terriers.
Mercer's duo of Kristin Yordanova and Teodora Ristic won their doubles match over Catherine Blouin and Emely Kahrs of Wofford to close out the doubles matches.
Emilia Cosatto got Mercer off to a good start in singles matches when she defeated Emely Kahrs, 6-1, 6-2.  Catherine Blouin of Wofford won the Terriers' first singles match of the day on court six as she defeated Lekha Varudandi, 6-3, 6-3.
Wofford's Grace Agster and Tea Zivic's match went three sets, but ultimately Agster prevailed winning, 4-6, 6-0, 6-2 to put Wofford in front on the team score 3-1.
The match on court two also went three sets as Brianna Wilbur of Wofford clinched the match winning the third set in a tiebreaker, 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (3) over Lea Falentin. On court three, Mercer's Mariella Minetti had an injury retirement in the second set against Wofford's Lily Woods in what was turning out to be a very tightly contested match with the first set going to a tiebreaker.
Teodora Ristic closed out the day with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 win over Wofford's Breda Brennan.
Next up for Mercer is a home match against the Furman Paladins next Tuesday, April 2 at 3 p.m.
