MACON – Mercer women's basketball head coach Michelle Clark-Heard made a notable addition to her 2024-25 roster on Friday when Fishers, Ind., native Talia Harris inked her name to a National Letter of Intent to continue her academic and athletic career with the Bears.
Â
Harris, a 5-8 guard, comes to Macon after a stellar prep career at Fishers High School in central Indiana where she was a three-time all-conference standout and member of the Indiana All-Stars. She is expected to make an immediate impact with the Orange & Black.
Â
"Talia is a very athletic point guard that can not only score, but she facilitates her game to make others around her better," Clark-Heard said. "I have watched Talia play for years, and I am excited to now have the opportunity to coach her. I know that the Mercer family will love watching her play as well."
Â
A 24-game starter for the Tigers and head coach Lauren Votaw, Harris averaged 14.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 1.5 steals per game in pacing Fisher High School to a 17-7 clip as a senior. She connected on nearly 43 percent of her field goal attempts, including 14 3-pointers, and played more than 25 minutes per game. She scored 10 or more points 18 times across her senior campaign, including seven 20+-point performances, and registered a pair of double-doubles as well.
Â
Harris played in 28 games as a junior and averaged 9.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.2 steals and 2.1 assists an outing, while also shooting better than 45 percent from the field. A career 44 percent shooter, she totaled 765 points, 217 assists and 142 steals over three varsity seasons.
Â
The daughter of Shannon Greer-Harris and Bruce Harris, Talia has an older brother, Bruce, and two sisters, Tamara and Tyasha. Tyasha is a former South Carolina standout and current guard for the WNBA's Connecticut Sun.
