Mercer Drops SoCon Semifinals Match To Top Seed ETSU

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -Â Mercer battled but came up short as the Bears dropped their SoCon Tournament semifinals match, 4-1 to top seeded ETSU on Friday from the Champions Club in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Mercer finishes the season 14-8. The 14Â victories on the season marked the most wins by the program in more then one and a half decades.
The day started with doubles play as ETSU's Fernanda Carvajal Daniela Rivera defeated Lea Falentin and Emilia Cosatto 6-4 on court one. ETSU's Sofia Markova and Alessandra Caceres clinched the doubles point for the Bucs by defeating Teodora Ristic and Marina de Diego Quinones, 6-2.
On court three Tea Zivic and Mariella Minetti were leading 5-3 over Jana Rovira and Ralitsa Alexandrova of ETSU before the match was called with the Bucs clinching the point.
In singles matches, Daniela Rivera of ETSU defeated Emilia Cosatto, 6-2, 6-0. Then, on court five ETSU's Alessandra Caceres defeated Mariella Minetti, 6-1, 6-1 to put ETSU one point away from advancing.
Teodora Ristic had a great match on court one winning over ETSU's Sofia Markova, 6-0, 6-3. ETSU's Ralitsa Alexandrova clinched the match for the Bucs in a great match against Tea Zivic but Alexandrova ended up winning 6-4, 7-5.
The other two matches that didn't finish saw Lea Falentin and ETSU's Fernanda Carvajal in a very close match in the third set with the score 5-5 in the third.
On court four Marina de Diego Quinones won the first set 6-4 and was leading 1-0 in the second set.
