SERIES HISTORY
Monday will be just the 2nd all-time meeting between Mercer and East Carolina. The two teams met for the first time last season in Greenville, North Carolina where Mercer won 13-8.
LAST TIME OUT
Another complete performance from the Mercer Bears ended in a 22-5 win over Winthrop on Senior Day Saturday afternoon in Macon.
Senior Kayla Casey got the start in goal for the Bears and made five saves while allowing just two goals in the first half. Senior Gabby DiVirgilio led Mercer offensively with five goals and Caroline Glus also had four goals. Senior Maddi Koury also had a great game for the Bears with two goals and a game high four assists.
SCOUTING EAST CAROLINA
East Carolina is 4-11 on the season and 1-5 in the American Athletic Conference. The Pirates are coming off an 11-10 win over Old Dominion on Saturday.
East Carolina is 2-0 against Big South teams this season with wins over Gardner-Webb and Furman.
The Pirates offense has been a bit inconsistent this season as they average 10.4 goals per game which is the second fewest in the AAC. East Carolina doesn't turn the ball over much as only Florida has fewer turnovers in the AAC than the Pirates.
East Carolina is led offensively by attacker Frances Kimel who has a team best 57 points on the season. Attacker Erin Gulden leads the Pirates with 30 goals on the year.
