
Mercer Rolls To 7-0 Win Over UNCG On Senior Day

MACON, Ga., - The Mercer women's tennis team picked up a dominant 7-0 win at home over UNCG on Senior Day, Saturday afternoon.
With the win the Bears improve to 12-7 overall and 3-3 in SoCon matches with one more conference match to go.
The Bears started the day by winning all three doubles matches for the doubles point. Teodora Ristic and Kristin Yordanova defeated UNCG's Sydney Bly and Alexandra Dodashev, 6-2 in the first doubles match to finish. Then, Mariella Minetti and Tea Zivic earned the doubles point for the Bears by defeating Juliana Craft and Lauren Thomson of UNCG.
In the last doubles match, Mercer's Emilia Cosatoo and Lea Falentin won 6-3 over Arina Babkova and Raegan Mitchell.
In singles action, Teodora Ristic got things started for the Bears by winning on court one over UNCG's Arina Babkova, 6-0, 6-2. Lea Falentin won 6-3, 6-3 over UNCG's Alexandra Dodashev.
Fittingly on senior day, senior Lekha Varudandi stepped up and clinched the match for the Bears by defeating UNCG's Juliana Craft, 6-2, 6-2. It was Varudandi's first win (besides default) this season in just her fourth singles match that finished.
Tea Zivic won 6-3, 6-4 on court five over Lauren Thomson of UNCG. The lone singles match to go three sets was on court three where Emilia Cosatto came out on top over Olivia Gallagher of UNCG, winning 6-1, 4-6, 1-0 (6). Mariella Minetti closed things out for the Bears in a competitive match against UNCG's Raegan Mitchell, 6-4, 7-5.
Mercer will conclude the regular season next weekend at Chattanooga. The match will begin April 13 at 3:30 p.m. in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
