
Mercer To Face High Point in Big South Championship Game

MACON, Ga. -Â The Mercer Bears will play the High Point Panther on Sunday at noon from Five Star Stadium in the Big South Tournament championship game. Admission to the game is free.

SERIES HISTORY
Sunday will be the 8th all-time meeting between Mercer and High Point. Mercer leads the series 4-3 and won in the teams' meeting in the regular season at High Point, 13-10.
LAST TIME OUT
Top-seeded Mercer exploded for eight goals in the opening period, including five amid a 2-minute and 30-second span early in the period, to set the tone on the way to a 23-14 victory over fourth-seeded Longwood in the semifinal round of the Big South Conference Tournament on Friday afternoon.

Senior Gabby DiVirgilio and junior Sami Lowinger both netted a quartet of goals to lead the Bears (13-5) who got hat tricks from five different players in the contest. It was the fourth loss in the last five outings for the Lancers (8-10) who have now dropped five-straight matchups in the series with the Orange & Black.
SCOUTING HIGH POINT
High Point enters Sunday's championship game as the No. 2 seed and is coming off a 19-14 win over Furman in the semifinals on Friday. The Panthers went 7-1 in the Big South with its lone loss coming to Mercer.
High Point is making its ninth Big South championship game appearance in its last 11 years in the conference.
High Point ranks second in the Big South behind Mercer in numerous statistical categories including goals per game, assists per game, points per game and shots per game. The Panthers have scored at least 20 goals in five of their last seven games.
High Point has several Big South All-Conference players. They also have the Big South Newcomer of the Year in senior defender Aryss Lindsey. Junior attacker Jordan Miles, junior midfielder Esprit Cha and Lindsey earned First Team All-Conference honors, while senior midfielder Kay Rosselli was named to the Second Team All-Conference squad.Â
Miles' 53 goals leads High Point is fourth most in the Big South. Miles and Cha are two of High Points best offensive players as each rank in the top 10 in the Big South in points per game as well.
