MACON – Mercer track & field head coach Roosevelt Lofton announced a summer addition to his 2024-25 roster on Tuesday morning when Long Jump specialist Naomi Pierce inked a National Letter of Intent to continue her academic and athletic career with the Bears.
Â
Pierce, a product of Trinidad & Tobago, ventures to Middle Georgia from the Caribbean nation where she was an accomplished student-athlete both on the track and in the classroom under coach Alison Bastein at Bishop Anstey High School. She claimed the Long Jump championship at the National Secondary School Girls Over-17 championships last season, while also picking up her eighth-straight certificate of athletic achievement. That followed a junior season in which she helped lead her prep squad to Trinidad & Tobago's secondary school national championship.
Â
The daughter of Nicole Bridgewater and the youngest of three children (two older brothers, David and Abram), Pierce maintained a 3.8 cumulative grade point average at Bishop Anstey High School where she was an active member of Peer Helpers and BAHS of Steel. She is expecting to major in biomedical engineering at Mercer.
