MACON, Ga. -Â The Mercer men's soccer team plays the final game of its season-opening four game road stretch on Sunday when they face off with North Florida. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

North Florida leads the all-time series 8-6-1. The former ASun opponents have played every year since 2018. Last season, the Ospreys defeated the Bears 1-0 at Betts Stadium. Mercer last visited North Florida in 2021, falling 4-3 in overtime.

Following a scoreless first half, Sekou Agard put the Bears in front with a goal in the 47th minute. Assisted on a beautiful ball from Carlos Santamaria on a corner kick, the score was Agard's second of the campaign.

Goalkeeper Trevor McMullen was excellent in leading the Bears to their second consecutive shutout. McMullen made four saves on the evening, including a crucial save in the 81st minute to keep Mercer in front. The senior now has 179 saves in his illustrious Mercer career, the most among active SoCon players. The clean sheet marks his 15th in orange and black.

After holding South Florida without a shot on goal on Sunday, the Bears' back line had another strong performance on Thursday to keep the Dolphins scoreless. Defenders Sekou Agard and Woodi Pondeca played the full 90 minutes and have yet to be subbed off this season.

For the game, Mercer held 12-7 advantage in shots and a 6-4 advantage in shots on goal. The Bears earned five corner kicks, while Jacksonville was left without one.

The Ospreys hosted Winthrop on Thursday in their home opener, beating the Eagles 3-1. Jaxon Reinhardt scored twice for North Florida.
Reinhardt leads the Ospreys in scoring with two goals. Braden Masker and Rentaro Miyakawa have each scored once. Luciano Natoli has been the lone Ospreys goalkeeper to see action this year, allowing seven goals and making six saves. Â
