MACON, Ga. – Larkin Thomason broke a scoreless game in the 81st minute when she found the back of the net for her ninth goal of the season to help lead Mercer to a 1-0 win over Presbyterian on a rainy Senior Day, Sunday afternoon from Betts Stadium.

The win puts Mercer's record at 6-2-1 as the Bears will now head into their 9-game conference schedule.

Mercer led in shots 17-10 with neither team putting many of those shots on goal as Mercer had three shots on goal to just one for Presbyterian. Mercer did hit a couple of posts in the first half but had to settle for a scoreless first half.

Neither side had many quality chances throughout the second half with freshman Hayden Lepley having Mercer's lone shot on goal in the half.

Then, in the 81st minute, Chandler Lewis-Jenkins sent a long pass from just past the center line in which Jada Moorman ran under inside the box and did a great job of out-jumping the Presbyterian goalie and headed the ball back out toward the top of the box where Thomason took a left-footed shot that found the bottom left corner to put Mercer ahead, 1-0.

The Bears did well to close out the game and not allow any quality scoring chances for Presbyterian over the final 10 minutes of the game.

+ After earning the Grit chain for their performance in the win over Georgia State, Mercer's back line of Lena Dykes, Chandler Lewis-Jenkins and Maggie Rollins were excellent once again.
+ Larkin Thomason not only scored the game-winning goal but led all players with seven shots.
+ Maria Karipidis had a good game in the midfield, using her height to win numerous balls in the air.

NOTABLES

+ Thomason is just two goals shy of tying her 11-goal freshman campaign. She has scored in seven consecutive games.
+ Senior Lindsay Bell earned her fourth shutout of the season on Senior Day.
+ Mercer improves to 5-1-0 at home with its lone loss by one goal to Illinois.
+ Mercer's three shots on goal were tied for its fewest in a game this season (vs North Florida).

Mercer will open SoCon play at home on Thursday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. against Furman.
