
Mercer Hosts Samford Wednesday On Star Wars Night

MACON, Ga. - The Mercer men's basketball team welcomes Samford to Hawkins Arena Wednesday night.
It is Star Wars night as tickets are $5.01 in recognition of the well-known 501st legion in Star Wars. A limited amount of lightsabers will be given out to fans when gates open at 6 p.m. Students who show proof of their "Bear Card" will also receive lightsabers and teddy bears while supplies last.
Come out and support the Bears and enjoy an in-game Star Wars themed experience throughout Wednesday night's game.

SERIES HISTORY
Saturday's game will be the 111th all-time meeting between Mercer and Samford. Mercer leads the all-time series, 66-44, however the Bulldogs won two of the three meetings between the teams last season.
LAST TIME OUT
Alex Holt and Ahmad Robinson each finished with a double-double, but Mercer dropped an 85-82 contest on the road to Western Carolina Sunday afternoon from Ingles Court in Cullowhee, North Carolina.
Mercer led for most of the game, but Western Carolina was able to sneak out a win by one-possession. Mercer shot 38.0 percent from the field, compared to Western Carolina who went 46.8 percent from the floor. Western Carolina entered Sunday's game as the top rebounding team in the SoCon, however the Bears outrebounded the Catamounts, 48-40.

Samford and Mercer rank first and second respectively in the SoCon in steals per game.
SCOUTING SAMFORD
Samford enters Wednesday's game with an 14-3 record, including an 4-0 mark in conference play. The Bulldogs are currently the only undefeated SoCon team in conference play.
The Bulldgogs are coming off a 76-69 win at home over UNCG. Samford has held all four of its SoCon opponents to under 70 points this season.
Samford currently owns the No. 5 scoring offense in America at 87.5 points per game. Samford also ranks second in the country in turnovers forced per game at 17.7 per game.
Samford's leading scorer is senior guard Trey Fort who averages 15.2 points per game which is ninth most in the SoCon. Guard, Rylan Jones leads the SoCon in assists per game at 5.9 per game.
