GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Spartans notched 16 blocks on their home court to shut down the Bears 3-1 on Saturday night in Fleming Gym.

Sophomore outside hitter Sophia Henry tied her season-high kills with 17 along with registering nine digs and two service aces. Freshman outside hitter also posted double-digit kills with 10 and junior middle blocker hit .308 at the net with nine kills and added two service aces. Sophomore libero Aubri Martin held it down in the back row and on the service line with 24 digs and four service aces.

The Bears return to Hawkins Arena on Oct. 17 and Oct. 18 to host Western Carolina and Samford in two 6 p.m. SoCon matches.

MATCH REPLAY
SET 1 I 20-25	The Spartans took an early 6-2 lead but the Bears were able to battle back to come within one point at the 15-14 mark after a kill from Sophia Henry. A service ace from Avery Wilks at the 20-18 mark gave Mercer some life but UNCG was able to capitalize on a few Mercer errors.
SET 2 I 23-25	Mercer out-hit UNCG 17 kills to 12 but the Spartans made up for it by totaling six blocks in the second set. Aubri Martin got the ball on the service line at the 24-20 mark, forcing the score to 24-23 but UNCG was able to secure the win with a kill.
SET 3 I 25-17	Mercer took an early 10-3 lead over the Spartans and carried the momentum throughout the remainder of the set. Solid performances by Sophia Henry and Charlotte Thompson at the net secured the set-three win for the Bears.
SET 4 \| 12-25	Both squads exchanged battled back and forth throughout the first few points until the Spartans went on an eight-point service run to hold Mercer to 12 points and taking their fourth win of conference play.
