Bears Trip To Wofford, UNCG For SoCon Matches

MACON, Ga. - The Mercer volleyball team will make its first weekend road trip of conference play to Spartanburg, S.C. and Greensboro, N.C. to face Wofford and UNCGÂ in two Southern Conference matchups.
The Bears are coming off of their first SoCon win of the 2025 season against The Citadel on Saturday, Oct. 4 in Hawkins Arena. Mercer defeated the Bulldogs in three sets from a full-team effort, out-hitting The Citadel by more than ten kills and hit .309 on the night. Sophomore libero Aubri Martin posted a double-double with 18 digs and 10 assists in the victory. Sophomore outside hitter Sophia Henry led the offensive effort with 10 kills, followed by Charlotte Thompson who added eight kills. Joselynn Sanjurjo and Olivia Elliott each contributed seven kills on the night and sophomore setter Sammi Bergjans tallied 12 assists, eight digs and two service aces.
Mercer will begin their road trip with a 2024 SoCon Championship rematch against the Terriers of Wofford College on Friday, Oct. 10 in Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium at 6 p.m.. The Bears defeated the Terriers to take the 2024 SoCon Regular Season Champions title but then fell to Wofford in the championship game of the 2024 SoCon Tournament. Wofford currently sits third in the conference with a 3-1 record and 7-8 overall record. The Terriers opened up conference play with three straight wins against The Citadel, Western Carolina and Samford before falling to Chattanooga on Oct. 4.
The Bears will then head to Greensboro on Saturday, Oct. 11 to face UNCG in a 5 p.m. match inside Fleming Gym. The Spartans currently sit at fifth in the conference with a 2-2 record and an overall record of 9-6. UNCG Â fell to Furman 1-3 to open up conference play but bounced back with wins against Samford (3-0) and Chattanooga (3-1). Most recently, the Spartans fell to Western Carolina 1-3 on Saturday, Oct. 4.
Both matches will be streamed on ESPN+ and will have live stats available to follow along with. For fans who are attending the matches, they are free of charge.
