Mercer Welcomes Samford To Betts Stadium Thursday Night

MACON, Ga. - The Mercer women's soccer team returns home to welcome the Samford Bulldogs to Macon. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. from Betts Stadium.

Morganne Eikelbarner's 8th goal of the season in the 47th minute proved to be the game-winning goal as Mercer picked up a crucial three points at home in a 1-0 win over UNCG Saturday night from Betts Stadium.

Samford currently leads the SoCon with 14 points and a 4-0-2 conference record entering Thursday's game. The Bulldogs were picked to finish second out of 10 teams in the Preseason SoCon Coaches Poll.
The Bulldogs are 3-1-4 on the road this season. Their last road game ended in a 2-2 draw at Furman on Oct. 5.
This season, Samford has scored 28 goals while having allowed just 13 goals in 14 games. Samford has the best scoring offense in the conference in SoCon play so far as they are scoring more than three goals per game in conference play. The Bulldogs have scored 19 goals while allowing just seven in their six conference games.
Samford is led offensively by junior forward Samantha De Luca who has leads the SoCon with 11 goals to go with two assists for 24Â points. No other Bulldog has more than three goals after De Luca. The Bulldogs do have six players with two or three goals on the season.
The expected starting goalie for the Bulldogs is redshirt sophomore Peyton Hull who owns a 0.93 goals against average and a .797 saves percentage. She has a SoCon leading eight shutouts on the year.
