
Sunday’s Doubles Final Set, Three Seeded Players Advance To Singles Semis

MACON – Rasheeda McAdoo and Angella Okutoyi will battle the American team of Ayana Akli and Eryn Cayetano in Sunday's doubles championship at the Mercer Tennis Classic, while the participants in the title bout of the singles draw will be decided on Saturday at the John Drew Smith Tennis Center.
Both doubles semifinal matchups on Friday were decided in straight sets as McAdoo/Okutoyi used a second-set tiebreak to finish off Mary Stoiana and Darja Vidmanova, 6-4 and 7-6 (8-6). On the other side of the bracket, Akli/Cayetano breezed past Tatsiana Sasnouskaya and Carson Tanguilig, 6-3 and 6-4.
Vidmanova, the No. 2 seed, advanced to the semifinal round of the singles draw with a straight sets triumph over Ekaterina Khayrutdinova, while Aussie Olivia Gadecki retired in the second set of her tilt with top-seeded Renata Zarazua. Fourth-seeded Emerson Jones and NC State alum Anna Rogers both rebounded from an opening-set losses to win their semifinal bouts in three sets.
Zarazua will battle Jones at 11 a.m. on Saturday in the first of the two semifinal singles matchups. Rogers will take on VIdmanova in the other contest.
The Mercer Tennis Classic, in partnership with the Macon Area Tennis Association and Macon-Bibb County, will run through Sunday, with all matches taking place at the John Drew Smith Tennis Center.
