GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Mercer volleyball team fell to Furman 1-3 in a Thursday night conference match up inside Alley Gymnasium in Greenville, S.C.

Sophomore outside hitter Sophia Henry posted a match-high 15 kills along with nine digs on the night. Charlotte Thompson also recorded double-digit kills with 12 and middle blocker Avery Wilks put up seven kills and four blocks. For the defense, sophomore libero Aubri Martin registered 22 digs and two service aces and sophomore middle blocker Joselynn Sanjurjo was a wall at the net with seven total blocks. Sophomore setter Sammi Bergjans recorded another double-double with 26 assists and 12 digs against the Paladins.

The Bears return to Macon, Ga. to host The Citadel on Saturday night inside Hawkins Arena. First serve is set for 7:30 p.m. and will not be streamed on ESPN+.

MATCH REPLAY
SET 1 I 25-22	Both squads battled throughout the beginning of the set until Sophia Henry went on a five-point service run to give the Bears a 9-6 lead. Mercer maintained the lead throughout the rest of the set even after a six-point service run from the Paladins.
SET 2 I 22-25	The Paladins took an early 7-3 lead over Mercer and they didn't let the Bears come closer than two points throughout the remainder of the set, stripping the momentum away.
SET 3 I 22-25	Set three was the most back and forth set between the two squads battling for an important set-three win with 12 tie scores. The Paladins were ultimately able to gain the edge over the Bears after a few Mercer errors.
SET 4 \| 21-25	Furman took another early lead over Mercer 12-9 but the Bears battled back to take the lead at the 16-15 mark after a kill from Sophia Henry. The Paladins took advantage of their home court and fed off of the energy from the crown to end the match on a kill.
